Merdeka Square is a historical and significant ground where on the midnight of August 31st, 1957, the Union Flag was lowered and the Malayan flag was proudly hoisted as a declaration of independence in Malaysia. Symbolic to the event, a flagpole towering at a height of 100 metres boldly waves the Malaysian flag as a remembrance of gaining their land and dignity back. Merdeka indeed.
